Glebelands School is a community secondary school for students aged 11 to 16 and part of Learning Partners Academy Trust. We are a school built on two simple but powerful words: respect and achieve. We don't apologise for our high expectations — of our students, our staff, or ourselves — and we are continually strengthening and improving everything we do. If you share that drive for doing things properly and doing them well, you'll fit right in.
Be the Steady Hand When Students Need It Most
Every student has days when the classroom feels like too much. When emotions run high, concentration slips and they need somewhere calm, safe and purposeful to regroup. That place is our Inclusion Room — and you'll be the person who makes it work.
We're looking for a Pastoral Support Worker with the warmth to connect with students who are finding things difficult, and the quiet strength to help them regulate, refocus and get back on track. You'll manage the day-to-day running of our Check-In (Regulation Zone) provision and Inclusion Room, supervising students who need time away from mainstream lessons, keeping them on task and maintaining the kind of calm, constructive environment where they can begin to settle.
This is not a role for someone who needs every day to be predictable. Students will arrive dysregulated, frustrated or upset — and you'll need to meet them with patience, consistency and genuine care. You'll liaise with Heads of Achievement, support staff with information gathering, take statements, coordinate work for students in the room and communicate sensitively with parents and carers when needed. You'll also manage detention administration and attend relevant pastoral meetings, including occasional after-school sessions on a half-termly basis.
You'll thrive here if you:
• Have experience working with young people, particularly those displaying challenging behaviour
• Stay calm, consistent and solution-focused under pressure
• Build trusted relationships quickly and communicate with clarity and empathy
• Understand the importance of confidentiality and safeguarding — and take both seriously
• Are a strong team player who can also work effectively on your own initiative
• Are committed to your own professional development and open to learning
What's in it for you?
We offer a friendly, professional team with a strong collaborative ethos, an excellent benefits package, Local Government Pension Scheme membership, a supportive senior leadership team, and training and development tailored to your needs — all within a genuinely rewarding role that makes a real difference to young people every day.

If you're someone who believes that every student deserves a calm space and a patient face — and you have what it takes to provide both — we'd really love to hear from you.
